Watching the eclipse safely by telescope projection

telescope projection
Click on the picture for a large version.
Project an image of the Sun from a small telescope or spotting scope onto white paper or card.

The high magnification of a telescope will show detail on the Sun even more clearly than binoculars.

Note the sunshield blocking the direct light of the Sun from the card. A telescope will also be able to show sunspots on the Sun.

Never leave the telescope unattended, in case someone tries to look through the telescope - they will be blinded if they look at the Sun.
