Path of Solar Eclipse 2002

full eclipse path
The full path of totality is shown in black in the figure above. The width of the path varies, and is widest around the middle of the path, over the southern Indian Ocean. The times at which the umbra passes four points on the path are marked. The times are Universal Time (UT) - South African Standard Time (SAST) is UT + 2 hours. The shadow of the Moon moves from West to East across the Earth, as the Moon passes from West to East across the face of the Sun.

For more detailed information see: NASA / GSFC Eclipse site by Fred Espenak - with detailed maps of the eclipse path through Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mocambique; there is also an animation of the eclipse path.
